Brazilian Sleep Association is a multidisciplinary institution whose missions are the promotion of sleep qualification for health professionals, dissemination of scientific knowledge, and increase the sleep awareness of the general population. Brazilian Sleep Association is also composed by 2 affiliated societies: Brazilian Association of Sleep Odontology and Brazilian Association of Sleep Medicine. Both associations are responsible for representing specific categories of sleep professionals and for the accreditation of new professionals in sleep medicine field. Currently, we have more than 2,000 affiliate members, from all Brazilian regions.

Activities and Accomplishments

Brazilian Sleep Association is a worldwide institution, promoting several activities, comprising courses, scientific meetings, and events for the general population (e.g. World Sleep Day). Since 2005, every year we promote the Brazilian Sleep Congress, a scientific meeting to promote discussions and updates about sleep medicine, sleep research and chronobiology with the participation of renomade nacional and international speakers. Brazilian Sleep Association promote activities during the World Sleep Day since 2015. This year, our event received the Distinguished Activity Awards by the World Sleep Day Committee. In addition, the society is committed with the development of new public policies in the Brazilian health system. Brazilian Sleep Association is also responsible for the peer-review journal Sleep Science – the official scientific journal of Brazilian Sleep Association and Latin American Federation of Sleep Societies. Sleep Science is an open access journal indexed in Scopus, DOAJ and PMC/Pubmed. Furthermore, we organize the publication of books (educational and scientific) and a magazine (Revista Sono) distributed to all affiliate members and available for download in our website (http://www.absono.com.br/revista-sono.html).
