Executive Committee

The five elected officers of the Governing Council comprise the Executive Committee, which administers World Sleep Society activities and delegates tasks and functions to committees.

Standing Committees

The Standing Committees are defined in the bylaws of World Sleep Society.

Education and Examination
Co-chairs: Ahmed S. BahHammam (Saudi Arabia), Clete Kushida (United States), Karen Spruyt (France)

This Committee will organize a broad range of educational activities to engage members. Educational activities will target sleep professionals and include webinars and seminars. The Committee will develop and review sleep health and sleep medicine educational materials for posting on the WSS website. The Education Committee will also maintain and update the World Sleep Society Sleep Medicine Curriculum.


Congress
Co-chairs: Charles Morin (Canada), YK Wing (Hong Kong)

The Congress Committee is responsible for all aspects of the Congress of World Sleep Society, normally held biennially.


Membership
Chair: Edilson Zancanella (Brazil)

The Membership Committee is responsible for two-way communication with membership; for setting the individual and society membership application processes, dues, and benefits; for maintaining the existing membership through renewals; and for promoting membership growth.


Practice Recommendations
Co-chairs: Alexandre Abreu (United States), Roo Killick (Australia), Clete Kushida (United States)

This Committee is responsible for identifying topics that need to be communicated to our membership. Types of publications include endorsed guidelines, consensus statements, meta-analyses, and other publications requested by the Governing Council to be published in the journal of the World Sleep Society.


Awards
Chair: Najib Ayas (Canada)

This Committee will have the responsibility for awards given out by the World Sleep Society, with the exception of World Sleep Day awards. Awards include the Christian Guilleminault Award.


Public Awareness
Co-chairs: Lourdes DelRosso (United States), Fang Han (China), Dayna Johnson (United States)

The Committee functions to help promote sleep health worldwide. The committee helps organize, support, and coordinate activities to inform the general public about the importance of healthy sleep and sleep disorders. This Committee is responsible for all aspects of World Sleep Day.


Publications
Co-chairs: Michael Chee (Singapore), Raffaele Ferri (Italy)

This Committee is responsible for all publications of the WSS that are in the public domain, including Healthier Sleep Magazine. The Committee also develops, reviews, and updates the World Sleep Society information booklet and website materials.


Nominations

This Committee will oversee the election process for the Governing Council and Executive of the World Sleep Society, ensuring that this is fair and transparent. The Nominating Committee will determine the names and eligibility of individuals placed on the ballot for election as Executive Committee Officers and Elected Council Members before the last day of the World Sleep Society Congress.


Global Sleep Health

The Committee functions to develop collaborations among health organizations and societies to promote sleep health. The committee helps organize, support, and coordinate activities to inform the health organizations, government, and world health organizations about the importance of healthy sleep and sleep disorders.
