Founded in 2016, the Venezuelan Academy of Sleep Medicine is a non-profit civil, scientific, and cultural association. Our goal is to establish and maintain a high level in the practice, teaching, and dissemination of the principles of sleep medicine in Venezuela, and to promote excellence, awareness, innovation, and research in the field of sleep medicine.
In November 2023, the Venezuelan Academy of Sleep Medicine organized the first Venezuelan Congress of Sleep Medicine, a landmark event in the history of sleep medicine in Venezuela. With 80 participants, including national and international experts, this congress marked a significant milestone by bringing together professionals committed to research and excellence in the field of sleep. The presented lectures covered relevant topics, from diagnosis and treatment to scientific advancements, thereby strengthening the scientific community dedicated to improving sleep health in our country.
