The International Surgical Sleep Society (ISSS) was founded in 2006 with the intent of bringing together sleep surgeons from around the world with the mission of educating our members and the public about sleep apnea and the surgical treatment of OSA. A parallel goal has been to promote research in obstructive sleep apnea surgery.

The ISSS holds an annual educational update which is a one to two day meeting held before the annual American Academy meeting. In addition, a biannual research meeting combines the educational update with an additional research symposium highlighting presentations focused on cutting-edge developments in sleep surgery; the research meeting is typically an international meeting with venues across the globe.

Our membership has grown over the years with 650 current members. We are proud to offer residents and fellows free membership. We have a management company (Veritas) that organizes and maintains our website, membership, and meetings. Finally, we communicate with our membership through a quarterly newsletter.

The ISSS has been grown over 18 years into a vibrant organization that organizes annual meetings covering the breadth of sleep surgery.

Our organization has recently revised the governing bylaws which has given better clarity to the roles of the officers and directors.
