Advocacy

Sleep is essential to human health and wellness. World Sleep Society works to transform beliefs and policies related to sleep health, gathering the best minds and ideas in sleep medicine and science to do so.

Global Sleep Health

World Sleep Society maintains a standing Global Sleep Health Committee with a mandate to develop collaborations among health organizations and societies to promote sleep health. The Committee helps to organize, support, and coordinate activities to inform health organizations and governments about the importance of healthy sleep and sleep disorders.

World Sleep Day

Organized by World Sleep Society, World Sleep Day is an annual awareness day for sleep health. World Sleep Society issues a call to action to raise awareness of health sleep and to celebrate its transformative power for wellness. Hundreds of World Sleep Society members and other health advocates become World Sleep Day Delegates each year, organizing awareness activities in their clinics, communities, and countries around the world.

World Sleep Day is held on the Friday before the vernal equinox (i.e., the northern hemisphere’s spring equinox). The next World Sleep Day is Friday, March 13, 2026.
